I'm having problems with my mobile device due to low memory space. What do I do?

If your mobile device memory space is running low or you receive an error message warning you of the low memory condition, m-Vision may not be able to operate, including updating content for you.

To solve this problem, you can manually clean up your storage (in main memory or storage card, depending on where you have installed m-Vision) by using the 'Explore' function in the desktop ActiveSync, go to Media page and delete files which you no longer require. You need to allow for approximately 2MB of free space for m-Vision to start the content update process.

What is a Storage Card?

A Storage Card is one way of expanding the main memory (RAM) of your Pocket PC. As the name suggests, it is a card that fits into a slot on your Pocket PC giving you extra storage capacity. For Pocket PC we recommend that you use a 128MB (or higher) SD, MMC or CF card to install m-Vision on, for Smartphone we reccommend a 128MB (or higher) Storage Card.

You should always check what sort of Storage Card could be used with your particular device.

I have an SD Storage Card to store the m-Vision application and content but the videos will not play.

Check that the "write protection lock" on the SD card is switched to the "unlock" position. Then re-insert the card and try to play again.

What is ActiveSync?

ActiveSync allows the user to transfer information between the PC and Pocket PC device and synchronize important data such as email, contacts and calendar dates. To do this you require Microsoft® ActiveSync®, software for Microsoft Windows® Powered Pocket PCs and Smartphones.

Smartphone requires ActiveSync 3.6 or later, to download the latest version click the link below.

There are two methods in which you can receive m-Vision content - 'Auto' and 'Manual'.

If you are a Pocket PC or Pocket PC Phone user, and select 'Auto' update, m-Vision will attempt to update during off-peak periods. The standard time for automatic update is set at between 1.00am to 4.00am each morning. Please ensure your device is connected to the Internet during this time.

If you are a Smartphone user, and select 'Auto' update, m-Vision will attempt to update periodically every 3 hours. m-Vision will attempt to establish an Internet connection at this time.

If you select 'Manual' update your Playlist will be updated only when you select 'Update Playlist' from the 'Options' menu.

What are the requirements for memory space?

m-Vision may take up to 128MB of your mobile device's (Pocket PC and/or Smartphone) memory space.

Content is regularly added and replaced within the m-Vision schedule. Each time your Playlist is updated, m-Vision downloads any new content onto your device memory and any redundant content is automatically removed.

Having less than the specified amount of available RAM memory may limit your m-Vision user experience and prevent the download of new content.

It is highly recommended that, in order to conserve RAM memory space, you install m-Vision to a storage card of appropriate size.

TIP: If you are using your Pocket PC to receive emails via Active Syncing, make sure you regularly remove all the items from your email client's "Deleted Items" folder.

I can no longer view a piece of content. Why won't it let me?

Each piece of content is 'capped' to allow a limited number of replays. Once you have reached this maximum you can no longer view this content piece. The numbers to the left (e.g. 1/3) of the content piece indicate how many times you have viewed the content and how many plays you have in total.

Can two m-Vision users get their personalized content preferences on the same Pocket PC device?

No. Since it's not possible to install two versions of m-Vision on the same Pocket PC device, it will not be possible to have two sets of personalized content preferences on the same device either.
